Despite the darkness of the Rockwood Music Hall and my lens limitations, I came out with some good shots.
I did for the first time rely on turning a couple of shoots to black and white, which is a common practice when concert photographers face very low or very bad light. I was happy with my choices though. I learned on black and white film and sometimes I miss it. (more…)
I was excited to make the trip to NY to shoot Nicole Nelson of Team Adam Levine on The Voice. Besides, Nicole being one of my favorites, it was the first time I was going to challenge my Nikon D600 in a dark club.
I missed shooting the artist because I had difficulty with the memory card. Seems basic but the camera kept informing me I only had 1 photo left. Reformatting wasn’t working. I kept recalling how at the last minute I decided to leave the manual in my car. As though the manuel was creating an intolerable weight in my bag. Luckily, as a back up, I had brought my point and shoot, the Nikon 8100. I used it to reformat the memory cards and I was ready to go. (more…)
After a long quest to see Les Nubians, my cousin Dina and I finally got our chance during the DC Jazz Festival. Somehow for one reason or another, over the last couple of years Dina and I have not been able to coordinate an outing to see this amazing French duo. We thought we might have to travel to France to increase our chances. (more…)
