Pet Photography

My first attempt at pet photography

Since getting my puppy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Jeter, I’ve contemplated getting into pet photography. Ok actually, the pet I really want to photograph is my own. After Carlisle’s birthday party, I went to my cousin’s house. I had to get out my camera when Celina attempted to protect Jeter from his dog cousin. Hugo is a neo mastiff that’s about 3 months older than Jeter but Hugo is 6 times Jeter’s size. Hugo just wanted to play but Jeter wasn’t ready to take on the big boys. Of course at home, Jeter acts like he’s the man of the house.

Wow… beautiful photos. Did you light these artificially? I love the ones of Hugo. Such and interesting face, and the light hitting all the wrinkles makes it even better. Of course your niece(?) is adorable too. 🙂

Thanks Don. I was thinking I forgot to add any technical info. I just grabbed my camera and started shooting. The overhead light was on in the dinning room, which is next to the staircase. I think that was the only light on. There may have still be a little sunlight through the house. Shot with my new favorite lens, 85mm f1.8. Great for portraits.
The girls are my cousins. I’m an only child, my cousins’ kids feel like my nieces and nephews. They call me cousin Carla.
